The Toad Canes / Metamorphosis

November 10, 2024 - 7:30pm

Presentation House Theatre, North Vancouver

Duration: 50 min

Creative team & Collaborators: Ehsan Fouladifard, Ricardo Hardy, Negin Khazaee, Rene Khazaee

Description

Experience an allegory of the labyrinth within the web of family relationships and the power dynamics that insidiously sustain its structure. Inspired by Frantz Fanon's exploration of revolt and violence, this thriller drama unapologetically examines the interplay between repression and transformation. "The Toad Canes" invites profound contemplation on the ethical quandaries that emerge from raw assertion and confrontation of power.

Audience Advisory:

Please be advised that "The Toad Canes" contains a few scenes depicting violence, blood, and the use of flashing lights.

In the spirit of storytelling, we pause to honour this land's ancient and contemporary narratives. We stand upon the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

Just as we celebrate the diverse voices of immigrant and refugee artists, we recognize the First Peoples who have woven this place's first and enduring tales. Their stories are a testament to resilience, creativity, and the power of community. As we come together from many corners of the world, may we always remember, respect, and learn from this land's stories.
