Presented by Teatr Fatamorgana, inspired by the need for beauty in theatre, an independent collective of travelling artists from Ukraine and Poland.

 

Description

A poetic shadow puppetry and object theatre performance for adults, this visually captivating work explores creation, memory, and hope through the imaginative language of childhood. Using flashlights, prisms, paper puppets, and live performers, it creates mesmerizing analog projections that blur the line between reality and illusion. Reflecting on war, migration, and the fragility of life, it offers a quiet meditation on resilience, impermanence, and our shared human experience.

In the spirit of storytelling, we pause to honour this land's ancient and contemporary narratives. We stand upon the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

Just as we celebrate the diverse voices of immigrant and refugee artists, we recognize the First Peoples who have woven this place's first and enduring tales. Their stories are a testament to resilience, creativity, and the power of community. As we come together from many corners of the world, may we always remember, respect, and learn from this land's stories.
