Instructed by Salomé Nieto, a choreographer, performer, and educator whose interdisciplinary practice bridges Butoh, ritual, ecology, and immersive performance.
Description
Open to participants of all levels, this workshop offers an inclusive space for physical exploration, imagery, and introspection. Through guided movement practices, participants are invited to discover new ways of moving, awaken personal and collective memory, and deepen awareness of the body as a site of expression. Emphasizing connection and shared presence, the workshop encourages creativity, vulnerability, and a heightened sense of interconnectedness through embodied practice.
Salomé received the 2017 Vancouver International Dance Festival Choreographic Award for her solo work in contemporary dance. Her work has been presented nationally and internationally, including at the 9th International Butoh Festival of Amsterdam and the Vancouver International Dance Festival 2025.
