Description
Camino y Despedida is a tribute to migrants, exploring their unspoken struggles and collective homesickness. Through dance, original songs, and live music, Walking Farewells intertwines previous pieces like Agridulce (Bittersweet), Aeropuertos Llenos de Esperanza, and Passportless Butterfly while also introducing new works by emerging artists embracing interdisciplinary connections. This performance delves into the nuanced perspectives of migration, evoking nostalgia, hope, joy, and sorrow. You’ll experience poetic imagery of dancing suitcases, and moments that celebrate both the bittersweet and hopeful aspects of migration.
About the music:
This production features two original songs composed by Carolina Silva, alongside collaboratively created music scripts with RCHRDY. The duo reinterprets and arranges selected covers from various composers, integrating live music with atmospheric soundscapes designed by RCHRDY to evoke the emotional and thematic core of the performance.
If you want to further support, the artists organized a fundraiser to help cover production costs. Plus they are giving back- 20% of what the raised funds will go to Rainbow Refugee.

Gratitude note: This project has been made possible through the generous support of several organizations that have contributed to its development. Beginning with Coastal City Ballet and Dance West Networks, who offered foundational support, followed by residencies and opportunities with The Parallel Project, The Dance Centre, Venables Theatre, and Rice & Beans Theatre. The project has also been enriched by presentations at Renaissance Opera, Britannia Community Centre, Vines Festival, and supported with space by New Works and the Roundhouse Community Centre. And now supported by STAND Festival in this iteration to present a full length work. Thanks to all the donors that have joined along the way!
