Presentation House Theatre, North Vancouver

Duration: 90 min

Experience a dynamic performance by acclaimed Mexican Lebanese transdisciplinary artist Pablo Zacarías (Vocals/Guitar), accompanied by fellow Yalla Jam bandmates Bassem Ghabrous (Piano), Vladimir Protic (Trumpet), with Guille Arámbulo (Guitar), Sara Magal (Guitar and Backing vocals), Rodrigo Luevano (Drums), Julia Farry (Bass) and Mariana Gutiérrez Fierro (Visuals), along with guest musicians and performers from around the world.

Description

Through this compelling performance, Pablo Zacarías shares his unique perspective on his family's narrative of intergenerational displacement and the profound quest for identity and belonging through songs, stories, and jokes.

Pablo is a human rights advocate and pioneer in Spanish-language stand-up in BC. He headlined the first Latinx comedy show at the Vancouver Playhouse. He became the first Vancouver-based Latinx comedian to perform solo at venues like Performance Works and Presentation House Theater.

In the spirit of storytelling, we pause to honour this land's ancient and contemporary narratives. We stand upon the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

Just as we celebrate the diverse voices of immigrant and refugee artists, we recognize the First Peoples who have woven this place's first and enduring tales. Their stories are a testament to resilience, creativity, and the power of community. As we come together from many corners of the world, may we always remember, respect, and learn from this land's stories.
